Huon Hooke
Deep dark and relatively youthful colour, with some purple tinges. The bouquet seems more fruit-driven and slightly pruney, a little stewy perhaps, no doubt reflecting the hot year. The wine is full-bodied and firm, savoury and dry, with a lot of tannin. The acidity is fairly prominent and the wine seems less than seamless. Not the most elegant of Wynns cabs, but still pretty good. It improved in the glass.

Medium to full red-purple; sweet and ripe cassis/blackberry/raspberry fruit aromas are followed by a full-bodied, fruit-driven style, with oak and tannins playing a nicely-judged support role; smooth and supple; every bit as good as the vintage reputation would suggest. Drink to 2013.
