93 Points James Halliday
A lower exposition than the Hill Block sibling and partly fermented in tank, partly in barrel. Otherwise, the winemaking and oak regime is the same (8 months in French oak, 30% new). Partial tank fermentation has benefitted this cuvée, imparting a reductive riff of mineral pungency, and restraint, despite the glycerol and weight. Plenty going on, with pointed aromas of pannacotta, stone fruits and dried mango. The core, creamed cashew and nougatine. The finish, long and febrile. The caveat, a bit of heat. Drink to 2027.
