Huon Hooke
Deep red/purple colour. Savoury, barrel-formed but not oaky aromas, with subtle meaty and earthy, foresty inflexions. Sweet entry and overripe fruit initial impression, then an oaky taste with firm, oaky, almost bitter tannins. A bit of a caricature. Slightly overbuilt. Big, mouth-crunching tannins. Not enjoyable now, or any time soon. Needs cellaring!
