Huon Hooke
Medium dark red some purple. Shy, somewhat developed nose, not that fresh. Drying tannins, savoury and sweet elements in mouth. Trace of gritty tannin counters the sweet fruit. Firm, somewhat tough finish. Solid wine; needs time. Astringent and slightly hollow. Cabernet not really showing.

Vibrant colour; pristine fruit aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, ironstone and a suggestion of oak; the complexity continues to unroll on the palate, with bitter chocolate offsetting the generous fruit; as expected the structure is firm, but the generosity shines through on the very long and even finish. Drink to 2018.
