This is notably ripe and distinctly gamy with aromas of red berry liqueur, violets and soft earth and spice scents. The delicious, round and attractively textured mid-palate is surprisingly forward, indeed it is almost soft though the acceptably long finish tightens up enough to suggest that there is a sufficient amount of structure to warrant up to a decade of cellar time. I would note that extended aeration had the reverse effect that it normally does, e.g. that the wine became progressively less forthcoming with air. Drink to 2019+.
