Deep red purple. Excellent colour. Big rich, plummy aroma with coconutty oak. Rich and superripe with licorice flavours, high alcohol and a hint of overripe grapes. Not an easy wine to love at this stage, too thick and heavy, and hot. But it certainly is crammed with flavour and guts. It needs cellaring and then hearty protein-rich food.
