Vegemite, sump-oil, black olive. A bit coarse and rustic; very tannic chewy and gripping. Ugh. Not a fine wine: clumsy and lacks subtlety and balance. Still sound though. A biggie.

A blend of 90% Shiraz and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, this vintage was considered as a "good yet tannic Grange." Certainly the tannins have become beautifully integrated in this sweet, expansive, full-bodied wine, with notes of subtle leather, melted asphalt, blackberry, and coffee. It is a very powerful, rich, deep, muscular wine with enormous concentration, plenty of glycerin and sweetness, and remarkable freshness and vigor. Drink it over the next 12-15 years.

The 1975 Grange was highlight of a very special dinner on Saturday night. Everyone remarked on the magnificent 'signature' Grange nose. Wonderful aromas of dark stone fruits, spice and tobacco. The palate didn't disappoint. Still lots of fruit and the tannins haven't softened nicely. A few of our guests thought it could last another ten years easily! Drink in the next 1 to 10 years
