Ranked #10 of 21 1999 Shiraz from Barossa Valley
92/100

Huon Hooke
Earthy, plum and roasting pan aromas, the palate rich and smooth with powdery tannins aplenty and good flavour. A good middle of the road style and a benchmark Barossa wine. Very good and a surprise, as it looks fresher than the '98.

90 Points Robert Parker
Exhibiting a saturated purple color, the 1999 Shiraz offers full-bodied, peppery, cassis flavors with more spice and earthy notes than the 2001. It also possesses a terrific texture and a back-loaded finish with ripe tannin. Consume it over the next decade.

94 Points James Halliday
The spotlessly clean, scented bouquet offers an array of cherry, spice, earth and vanilla; the particularly harmonious balance and extract of the palate is constructed around the red berry fruit at its core, amplified by spice, chocolate and soft tannins. A bargain in these days of stratospheric prices for 100-year-old vine Shiraz. Drink to 2020.
