Huon Hooke
Deep, bright red/brick colour with the faintest suggestion of purple lingering. The bouquet is complex, with mellow 'roasting pan' aromas and some charcuterie hints; tobacco also. The palate is soft and fleshy with density and extract aplenty, the tannins also very evident but ripe and supple, lingering long with an authoritative after-grip. Long-term wine. Very impressive.

Medium to full red-purple; the bouquet is extremely attractive, with an array of cassis, blackberry and mint fruit characters, the palate elegant and stylish. Instead of succumbing to the temptation of extracting every bit of character from the wine, it has been allowed to express itself in an unforced fashion. Drink to 2011.
