Huon Hooke
Remarkably youthful, oaky, rich and concentrated. This is a Peter Pan wine: still youthful in its colour, bouquet and taste. It's full-bodied, rich and powerful, bold and completely satisfying to drink. It's very good now but will surely last for many more years. Indeed, it probably needed this long to come around!

88 Points Robert Parker
The estate-bottled 1995 Syrah Balmoral exhibits nearly excessive oak, but there is no doubting its sweet blackberry and cherry-scented nose with aromas of licorice and spicy new oak. As the wine sits in the glass, notes of bacon fat emerge. Fleshy, medium to full-bodied, and smoky, with excellent purity, this wine can be drunk now or cellared for 7-8 years.

95 Points James Halliday
Deep red-purple; an extremely powerful, concentrated and rich bouquet leads into an opulently layered palate with a range of black cherry and blackberry fruit, ample tannins and lush oak in support. Drink to 2015.
