Huon Hooke
Deep, dark colour with black and tawny reflections; the bouquet is earthy and savoury and just lacks the freshness we might hope for. Some creosote. The wine is very full-bodied and very firm in tannin, a whopper, with tongue-crunching tannins. Not very detailed. A good but somewhat brutal wine. It demands protein-rich food.

Medium red-purple; the clean, moderately intense bouquet offers a mix of red and blackcurrant and blackberry fruit; a very substantial palate with lots of flavour, extract and tannins promises a long life. Gold medal winner Limestone Coast Wine Show 2001. Drink to 2014.
