Huon Hooke
Lots of cocoa and chocolate/mocha to sniff, the wine is still quite taut and focused, long and quite elegant. Not quite what was expected from a top year, but quite good.

Medium red-purple; a clean, smooth harmonious dark cherry-accented bouquet with subtle oak. The palate, while powerful, is smooth and long, with dark cherry and other berry fruit flavours, finishing with supple tannins. Definitely a label on the resurgence. Drink to 2006.

RP 91 points: "Deep garnet-brick colored, the nose gives aromas of kirsch and fruits of the forest compote with suggestions of prunes, dates, tobacco, nutmeg and cassia plus a whiff of toffee. Medium bodied with a good amount of mature fruit holding onto the structure of medium-firm chewy tannins and crisp acid, it finishes long with some gamey / medicinal notes coming through."
