Huon Hooke
Very complex, mature Barossa shiraz bouquet, showing leather, squashed ants, aniseed and peppermint aromas. A touch of smoked oyster. The wine has great intensity and remarkable freshness, great length and vitality. It's much fresher than I usually find in RunRig, even more surprising given its age. Very long, driving finish. A terrific wine. (14.5% alc)

The youngest Run Rig, the 2001, should equal the 1998 as it is almost a clone aromatically, texturally, and flavor-wise, just much younger. This opaque purple-colored beauty should flirt with perfection over the next 10-15 years. Drink 2009 - 2024.
