Huon Hooke
Drought year; tiny berries. The bouquet is ripe and slightly cooked; good but lacking the detail of the better vintages. Cloves and nutmeg. The palate is a trifle four-square and chunky, but as Tim Kirk observed, it manages to avoid the drying finish typical of so many '03 Australian reds.
