87 Points Robert Parker
The 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon is rich, with complex aromatics. Dark ruby-colored, with scents of spice box, cedar, tobacco, and black currants, this medium-bodied, nicely packaged Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits good ripeness and purity as well as an overall sense of grace/balance. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.

Medium red, with some softening in the purple hue. The bouquet is fragrant and complex, with that typical spicy/cedary oak of Howard Park; the palate has admirable structure with cedary, foresty flavours, soft, fine tannins, and sweetness deriving partly from the fruit and partly from the Troncais oak. A welcome return to form. Drink to 2011.
