Huon Hooke
Deep, dark red-brick colour with no purple remaining. The bouquet is earthy and slightly oxidative, a bit animal even. Not the freshest bottle of this? The palate is fleshy and rich, deep and mouth-filling, with supple tannins and drying aftertaste. It seems very savoury and forward-developed. Cork not perfect? Possible Brett.

91 Points James Halliday
Deep purple-red; blackberry, blackcurrant and earth; shows the cool '02 vintage character; firm, faintly austere, but with a long, even fruit structure. Slow-developing style. Drink to 2014.
James Halliday. June, 2021
Produced from only the top 25% of available cabernet grapes, this wine has a long-established reputation for displaying excellent Coonawarra cabernet varietal definition and exceptionally high wine quality. When young, the wine is redolent of cassis and other red berry fruits with a strong background of charry oak. Ground coffee, dark chocolate and mint descriptors are often used.
With bottle age, cedar, cigar box and new leather characters enrich the developed bouquet. Under good cellaring conditions this wine will age gracefully for many years.
