Ranked #7 of 35 2005 Shiraz from Margaret River

Huon Hooke
Light floral fruit, oaky and not conventionally shiraz-like. Some new oak, some banana-like aromas. Minty also. Palate is soft yet intense and lively; smooth, balanced. Pretty tannic and young, a bit callow.

87 Points Robert Parker
The 2005 Shiraz is opaque purple-colored with aromas of smoke, game, bacon, and blueberry. Supple-textured, ripe, and elegantly styled, the wine has some structure but is in need of greater depth. It will drink well through 2015.

94 Points James Halliday
Medium-bodied; fragrant black fruits; a strong structure underpinned by tannins, but by no means ferocious; in fact the balance is very good, as is the length; predominantly blackberry and black cherry fruit with well-integrated quality oak. Drink to 2027.
