A masterpiece. A magical wine of extraordinary balance, complexity and elegance. Power, harmony, wonderful flavour and style, very much a Penfolds wine but with its French-oaked subtlety and svelte tannins it is arguably a finer and greater wine than the best Bin 707s. 20 years old and has at least another 20 great years ahead of it.

Medium to full red-purple; a paradigm of everything Cabernet Sauvignon should be: the fragrant cassis/redcurrant fruit and perfect oak integration of the bouquet is followed by an intensely flavoured yet elegant wine on a very long palate flooded with cassis and redcurrant fruit, and crowned with fine tannins on the finish. Drink to 2026.

The limited production Penfolds Cabernet Sauvignon Block 42 Kalimna is produced from some of the finest parcels of vineyards Penfolds owns. The 10-acre Block 42 in the Barossa Valley was planted only 30 years after the great 1855 Bordeaux Classification and comprises the oldest plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon continuously produced in the world. The Block 42 Kalimna is considered one of Australia's benchmark wines for both its pedigree and history. Only a limited number of vintages are released when the fruit is considered to be of exceptional quality. The 2004 vintage was the first Australian wine to be sold en primeur.
