Ranked #72 of 141 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon from South Australia

Huon Hooke
Medium-full red-purple. Red fruits, raspberry, herbal and a little earthy/fusty. Big and tannic, a raunchy wine, solid and grippy. Serious stuff. Not elegant, but has guts. Needs time.

88 Points Robert Parker
The purple-colored 2006 Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 12 months in 15% new French and American oak hogsheads. The nose sports an aromatic array of cedar, allspice, violets, and black currant. Slightly compact in the mouth, it has tasty flavors but a slightly pinched personality. It may be that 2-3 years of cellaring will fill it out but that is not a certainty.

94 Points James Halliday
Has classic cabernet character, with a distinctly austere framework surrounding the blackcurrant and earth fruit; the tannins are in balance and not dry, the oak likewise in balance. An appallingly heavily wine-stained cork. Drink to 2021.
