Ranked #19 of 294 2005 Shiraz from South Australia

Huon Hooke
Similar nose to '04: nutmeg spice aromas with red fruits. Cranberry. Tautly tannic palate; sturdy and tight. Firm and a little forbidding in tannins. Needs a lot of time: very promising and packed with fruit, tannin and flavour. Needs 5 years at least, then drink for 35. A stand-out!

90 Points Robert Parker
The 2005 St. Henri Shiraz is matured for 16 months in large, seasoned oak vats and includes 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. It exhibits a floral-accented perfume along with nutmeg, cinnamon, licorice, and blueberry. Medium-bodied and impeccably balanced, it displays a complex array of fruit and spice flavors leading to a lengthy, pure finish. Drink this stylish effort over the next 10-12 years.

94 Points James Halliday
A substantial wine in all respects, with more richness and mouthfeel than many of the 1980s and ’90s; the array of black fruits with a twist of cassis is perfectly balanced, as is the oak and tannin support. Drink to 2025.
