Huon Hooke
Deep red purple, blackish tints; very coconutty oak-dominant aroma; American barrels? A hint of dead-fruit lurking under all that showy oak. Concomitantly, the palate is dull and flat, and lacks vigour, true depth of flavour and life. A big, amorphous wine, nevertheless it's a big mouthful of red and many will like that. It borders on amarone style.
