An ethereal champagne that is head an shoulders above New World methode sparklers that look crude by comparison. Very attractive wine that’s all about power delivered with great subtelty. Lovely fresh bread yeastiness. Bone dry

When Antoine-Roland Billecart presented his full range across Australia last week, he had a new disgorgement of Brut Réserve in tow, based on the 2009 vintage. Unfortunately, the bottle contains no clue to denote the new shipment, which is a particularly pristine and elegant Billecart. With a strong pinot meunier lead, red berry fruits are more prominent than ever, but the omnipresent underriding chalky mineral mouthfeel of Billecart remains the defining feature.

The NV Brut Reserve is an attractive, easygoing wine with good up-front fruit and an accessible personality. Flowers, dried pears and spices are some of notes that linger on the finish. This is Lot 23813206659A. Disgorged February 2011. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014. Source: Robert Parker (Wine Advocate) November, 2011 by Antonio Galloni
