Huon Hooke
Deep red purple, slightly opaque. Very oaky and somewhat stale, possibly a touch overripe. Creosote/black-olive. Dense, chewy, quite thick texture with a core of fruit sweetness. Nice soft round supple tannins. Heavily infused with oak, but gets away with it. Lacks freshness, but rich.

Impenetrable colour; the bouquet is chock full of sweet black fruit, mocha and fruitcake spice; the palate is incredibly warm and loaded with sweet fruit showing a raisined edge; despite this, the flavours are defined and the finish long, but be warned, this wine is a commitment. Drink to 2020.
