Ranked #49 of 82 2009 Shiraz from McLaren Vale

Huon Hooke
Deep red colour, purple rim. Rich chocolaty and plummy blackberry aromas, lots of toasty oak here, but it's also showing some fruit of a rich, warm-grown style. Fleshy and savoury in mouth, with soft tannins and agreeable shape. Pleasant drinking shiraz without great detail or much long-term promise.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2009 Shiraz is a little restrained on the nose, displaying aromas of warm blueberries and dried plums with nuances of damp loam, moss covered tree bark, dried Mediterranean herbs and black pepper. Full bodied with a good concentration of expressive warm berry and earth flavors, it has a medium to firm level of rounded tannins and lively acid, finishing long and a little minty. Consider drinking this one 2013 to 2019+.
