Huon Hooke
Deep burnished brick-red colour with a tawny rim. Marvellous 'old wine' bouquet of roasted meats and raisiny, pruney aspects, not from overripeness but from age. Licorice hints. Toffee high notes. Ethereal. Soft, mellow, but intense, has more power and drive than the '53 Magill Burgundy. Still has a core of fruit sweetness. Great balance and length, endless aftertaste.
