Huon Hooke
(94 dozen produced) Deep, dark red/purple colour. The bouquet is dense and superbly ripe, with smoky toasty oak infusion. The palate is very compact and rich, lush and smooth, with an opulent velvety density that lingers for a long time. Very concentrated, but also poised. A decadent wine for the long haul.

96 Points James Halliday
The colour is still crimson-tinged; the bouquet is highly expressive, both of flavours to come, and (unusually) of the plush, velvety texture of the deep black fruits, dark chocolate, licorice and oak tannins. It is the control of the alcohol that gives this wine its special qualities. Drink to 2040.
