Huon Hooke
Medium red colour with a brick-red tinge. The aromas are sweetly plummy with dried floral, foresty complexity. The palate is pleasantly mellow and showing some early development, with a little firmness from tannin and dryness on the aftertaste. A hint of whole-bunch spiciness and oak on the aftertaste, too. Tight and firm, with a degree of intensity on the middle-palate. Quite delicious with barbecued chicken.

Bright crimson-purple; a delicious wine, falling neatly and very happily between the richness of the Gippsland and the elegance of the Mornington Peninsula Downie Pinots; this does not reflect any lack of refinement or balance, for its has glorious varietal/regional expression with its mix of cherry and plum fruits that, given a year or two (or more) will open with the flourish of a peacock's tail. Drink to 2022.
