Ranked #5 of 24 2014 Shiraz Viognier from Canberra District
93/100
4.5 Stars
Huon Hooke
Deepish red/purple colour, with a clovey spicy aroma, and a trace of Dencorub. The palate is stylish, elegant, intense and deep, with length and line and a clean, firm finish. The mint is much subtler on the finish. First class shiraz. Other tasters thought this too spicy, vermouth-like and acidic.

The medium to full-bodied 2014 Shiraz-Viognier continues the Clonakilla tradition of terrific wines that are easy to drink on release yet can age for well over a decade. It reveals floral notes, peppery spice and red berries, a plump, silky texture in the mouth and a lingering finish.

96 Points James Halliday
The bright hue and perfumed, spicy red berry bouquet run true to type for this modern classic, setting the bar for the co-fermented blend many years ago. It has a set of flavours that are unique, and can fool even expert tasters in blind tastings, its cross-thatched flavours need careful navigation to decide whether it's from Cote Rotie or Canberra. Drink to 2034.
