Ranked #56 of 60 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra

Huon Hooke
Deep, dark red colour with a tinge of purple. The bouquet is earthy, herbal and smoky-oaky, with some charred-barrel hints and the palate is rather astringent, with high acidity underlining firm and slightly green-tasting tannins. It's a quite austere wine that will need time to mellow and soften.

96 Points James Halliday
From four key subsections of the Abbey Vineyard; part of the wine spent 30 days on skins to underwrite a long life; matured for 21 months in a mix of new and recently used barrels. An exceptional wine, flush with cassis and bay leaf fruit, and perfectly balanced tannins on a long, perfectly balanced finish. Drink to 2043.
