Huon Hooke
Very deep, dense red/purple with black tinges; the bouquet is super-ripe and oaky, showing some black olive and ironstone. A slight alcohol fuminess. The wine is massive: full-bodied, tannic and chewy, with lashings of fruit and oak tannins, and saying go away and leave me alone for a few years. There's a core of almost jammy fruit sweetness and it's very rich and profound. This is a colossal wine which needs several years before broaching.
