Ranked #46 of 110 2014 Shiraz from Barossa Valley
91/100

Huon Hooke
Deep red colour with a purple tinge, the aromas are spicy and raspberry-like with a twist of white pepper. Very attractive pepper and spicy style, it seems like a cooler region. The palate is firm and tight, with a touch of graphite in its tannins. Cellarworthy, too.

All of the mainstream red winemaking options are used, demanding (and receiving) unrelenting attention to detail. This is a hero Barossa Valley shiraz, its backbone planted in 1847, with great colour, profound complexity, yet retaining a calm personality within its array of primary, fresh flavours. Drink to 2044.
