Huon Hooke
Deep, dark colour with a trace of purple; the bouquet sweetly ripe and rich, with lush fruit and abundant ripeness. Pepper and clove also. A dash of star anise. The wine is full-bodied and ample with generous fruit sweetness backed up by savoury tannins, which are supple. The flavour is rich and generous and there is a touch of hedonism about it. Very good.

Aged in all French oak, 40% new, the 2015 Shiraz is the first vintage of this wine to include a whole-bunch component (15%). I found that element virtually undetectable in the glass, as the wine shows plenty of ripe blackberry fruit, vanilla and baking spices. It's medium to full-bodied (14.5% alcohol), with a velvety feel on the palate and a soft, plush finish. This should drink well through 2030.

Deep crimson purple, this smells super with its aromas of briary dark fruits together with a little cedar/vanillin from the beautifully handled oak (the wine was matured in new and seasoned French oak hogsheads). There is an old vine creaminess to the palate which manages to be rich and concentrated but supremely balanced at the same time. A terrific wine from go to whoah. Drink to 2030.
