Huon Hooke
Medium dark red purple: very good colour for its age. Mulberry cassis and vanilla aromas, a bit oaky and muffled, lacks brightness and charm. Palate is rather lacking, just OK, has savoury developing flavours and is a little lean. Chewy, rather rough tannins. Merely pleasant: an element of greenness in this.

Deep garnet-purple in color, 2006 D Block Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon offers intense cassis, dried Mediterranean herbs and clove aromas, with supporting notes of graphite, dusty earth, cedar and forest floor. Crisp and full bodied on the palate, it has a firm level of very fine tannins and a good concentration if berry and earth flavors. The finish is long and well balanced. Drinking now, it should continue to evolve and cellar to 2021+.

The bouquet has essency fruit, with a slight mineral, savoury edge which adds complexity; the flavour is rich and ripe, and extends gracefully along the entire palate. Drink to 2016.
