Huon Hooke
Deep red/purple colour with a rich, dark chocolate, mocha bouquet with lashings of oak and overtones of fruitcake and preserved plums. It's rich and full-bodied, plump and fleshy, with drying savoury tannins which are well-balanced by generous flavour. Don't be too put off by the oaky nose: it's a delicious, almost opulent style of shiraz, full-bodied and cuddly. Very satisfying.

Fermented in open-topped barrels, and then transferred back to (American) oak after pressing. Subsequent maturation for 20 months prior to bottling. It's ripe-fruited and American oaked but there's no denying the quality here. Aromatic and spicy on the bouquet, the sweetly-edged flavour on the palate is generous but refined, likewise the finely-grained tannin. Drink to 2027.
