92 Points Robert Parker
The 2003 Woodcutters Shiraz is a 9,000-case cuvee of sexy juice. Powell fashions this striking cuvee from some of Barossa’s younger Shiraz vineyards. It is aged 12 months in old wood foudres prior to being bottled unfined and unfiltered. While meant to be consumed early in life, it does not sacrifice any flavor intensity or power. With a deep ruby/purple color, gorgeous plum, black cherry, raspberry, and cassis-scented aromas as well as flavors, low acidity, medium to full body, good opulence, and no hard edges, it is about as sexy a Shiraz as one can buy for $20. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.

96 Points James Halliday
Deep colour and hue; highly fragrant, spiced blackberry aromas; the intensity of flavour hits the mouth like a gale, the inbuilt tannins neither hard nor dry. Controlled oak. The '04 should be celestial. Drink to 2023.

94 Points Hooke
Very deep, and quite youthful colour; the bouquet powerful, raisined and oaky, with a subtle high note of mint, while the palate is very full bodied, concentrated and powerful, with decadent richness and extract. A minster wine which is very good in its genre, but the oak leve is on the high side and there is a trace of overripeness in the fruit, not necessarily a fault. Has many years left in it. Drink 2024 - 2033.
