Ranked #14 of 42 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra

Huon Hooke
A very good wine with the usual St Hugo density, concentration and oak handling, but as a Coonawarra cabernet it is just a trifle clumsy. It also has the eucalypt forest-floor aromatic typical of this company's red wines, although not to the extent of outrageous mint. (14.1% alc.)

94 Points James Halliday
Matured for 19 months in 60% new French and Hungarian hogsheads, and 10% new American, the balanced used. The oak is more obvious that I would like, but it could easily slip back into the fruit over coming years. At the risk of harping on, I can't for the life of me see the reason for 10% new American oak, but there you go. Drink to 2039.
