Huon Hooke
Deep purple red, vivid. Licorice and chocolate aromas, with a herbal edge. Rather rough and oaky, reduced - like a boiled-down essence - with a sweet-and-sour taste in the mouth. Has high acid, but also chewy tannin. A massive but somewhat clumsy wine, with slightly raisined fruit.
