Medium to deep red colour, with just a trace of purple in the tint. The bouquet is spicy and herbal, with suggestions of root vegetables and some white pepper amongst the spices. The palate is full-bodied and richly textured, concentrated and loaded with a range of complex flavours. Spices and pepper are at the forefront, but there's also leather and smoke, fresh-dug earth, trace of licorice and even a hint of red fruits - but it's at a far remove from simple grapy shiraz. I suspect whole-bunch fermentation techniques have been used. A sensuous and beautiful cool-climate shiraz. The aftertaste is almost endless.

Full crimson-purple; this wine has a pedigree second to none, with many superlative vintages over the years, and this is right up with the best; its has an opulent, yet distinguished, interplay of black cherry, blackberry, spice, pepper, licorice and cedar backed by fine, persistent tannins. One for your grandchildren. Drink to 2037.
