Deep, dark and a very youthful purple in colour. Aromas of dark plums, mulberries and chocolate, graphite, charry oak and a whiff of menthol. Deep, dark and brooding black fruit flavours, there’s real power in the fruit, but the savoury tannin and lively acidity harness the power and shape the wine very nicely. Very good length and mouth-feel. It screams out for some protein.

A core of 1847-planted Bethany Road vineyard; matured 18 months in 43% new French oak hogsheads. A fine-boned Barossa shiraz led by a framework of powder-fine, dusty tannins. A compact core of spicy dark berry fruits is accented with the exotic spice of grand old vines. The stress of the 2019 drought season plays out on a dry, compacted finish. Give it time to build flesh. Drink to 2029.
