Huon Hooke
Deepish red colour, slight purple tint. Oaky and savoury developing aromas of humus and mushrooms. Query a touch of mustiness from the cork. Very savoury all-round. The palate is tight and firm, with ample tannins, but not a lot of fruit or charm. It seems lean, subdued and lacks detail. Tannins rule the palate. Could it be subdued by a touch of cork-taint? Whatever, the verdict, it's very firm, and closed, needing more time.
