Huon Hooke
Good, deep, youthful colour and a rich, ripe, complex bouquet which doesn't betray either grape variety, just 'good wine' characters. There is a charcuterie and smoked-oyster character that suggests it's seen plenty of small and possibly new oak, but it's all in balance. The palate is full-bodied, bright and rich, with the only negative being slightly elevated acidity which disturbs the texture of the palate slightly. A small point, but for me, it holds it out of outstanding class.
