Tawny-brown colour. Very old, but still tight and firm on the palate. Highly savoury; not a bad wine, but not very detailed.

One of the finest Cabernet Sauvignons produced in South Australia is d’Arenberg’s Coppermine Road. Boasting a deep purple color as well as structured flavors of cassis, earth, saddle leather, spice box, and tobacco leaf, the ripe, medium to full-bodied, fleshy 2000 The Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon possesses a slightly tannic finish. Give it 1-3 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following 12-15.

Medium red-purple; blackberry and blackcurrant fruit on the bouquet has some more savoury characters in the background; there is more of the same on the palate, with fractionally edgy tannins running from the back palate to the finish. Drink to 2010.

Powerful and invitingly fragrant nose of red and blue fruits, liqueur. Palate more restrained, still good fruit, also quality leather and a small hint of tobacco. Soft, slightly fluffy tannins and nicely balanced acid lead in to a very long finish. I tasted this while preparing a roast leg of lamb marinated in mint sauce, and then drank alongside the lamb at dinner. 20 minutes after my last sip of wine and last bite of lamb, the flavours of both were still playing out on my tongue. A delightful combination. Drink in the next 1 to 5 years
