94 Points Robert Parker
Deep garnet with a hint of brick to the color, the 1998 Prodigy Shiraz reveals a pronounced nose intensely scented with earthy, meaty and gamey aromas of smoked bacon and salami all intermingling with notes of dried mulberries, dried mint, sandalwood, anise and coffee. Medium-bodied, it is elegant in the mouth, with tons of flavor layers, a vibrant acid line and a medium level of velvety tannins. It finishes long. Mature, drinking well now.

Medium to full red-purple; potent oak sits on top of the fruit on the bouquet; the texture and structure of the palate are excellent, with sweet tannins, but once again the flavours of the oak swamp those of the fruit. Others, I am sure, will happily accept the amount of oak and rate my judgement as harsh. Drink to 2013.
