Deep garnet, the 1997 Great Western Thomson Family Shiraz has pronounced notes of baked plums and blackberries with vanilla and Chinese five spice nuances plus and aged meat and fig undercurrent. Rich, full-bodied and generous in the mouth, it unfolds with layer upon layer of figs, prunes and exotic spice flavors, supported by firm grainy tannins, finishing long with a refreshing lift.
