Huon Hooke
Concentrated cassis like aromas, blackberry cassis aromas; massive super-ripe, concentrated fruit. Very rich, sweet, opulent, the palate big and deep, almost dense, quite opulent. Delicious wine.

89 Points James Halliday
Medium to full red-purple; from this point on I have real problems with the wine. Like the curate's egg, it is great in some parts but not others. The 'others' derive from the degree of what is euphemistically called lift and technically called volatile acidity. There are wonderful dark berry and dark chocolate flavours together with that sweet, cedary oak, but I cannot help but notice the volatility. Others may be less pedantic. Drink to 2003.
