Penfolds has always been successful with their Shiraz Kalimna Bin 28 and the 2003 exhibits the cooler climate side of this varietal in its white pepper, mint, red and black currant, underbrush, and spicy characteristics. Medium-bodied but substantial, it is made in a style that is completely different from the Barossa and McLaren Vale reds. Enjoy it over the next 4-5 years.

Big, sturdy, archetypal Penfolds red; masses of black fruits and strong but balanced tannins in support; simply needs time. Barossa Valley/Clare Valley/McLaren Vale. Drink to 2015.
