An excellent wine, one of the best of this line that I can recall tasting. Perfect ripeness; no mintiness, lovely intensity and elegance, nothing detracting. All components are in harmony. A nice surprise from a vintage that is not especially highly rated. (60/40 cabernet sauvignon to merlot)

Medium to full red-purple; even by the standards of Petaluma, a particularly complex bouquet of blackberry and plum fruit with outstanding oak balance and integration. The palate is very concentrated, with quite surprising tannins enfolding the core of sweet fruit; demands patience. Drink to 2019.

The way this wine reacts along your tongue is a study in elegant, structured cabernet. There’s a brush of herbaceousness and a slash of scintillating blackcurrant, with vague sappy/cedary characters and a waft of charry/smokiness making it complete. Should develop gorgeously. Beautiful balance.
