Sweeter aromas, still with that distinctive nutmeg spiciness. Some mixed berry jam aromas. Palate again firmly tannic and tight; very grippy; tight and sturdy, like a good Barossa Deutsch citizen. Best in 3 to 30+ years.

The 2004 St.-Henri Shiraz was sourced from five regions and aged in seasoned oak. Purple-colored, the nose gives up aromas of smoke, game, Asian spices, blueberry, and blackberry. Smooth-textured on the palate, it is nicely layered with savory fruit, lots of spice, and enough stuffing to evolve for 3-5 years. This lengthy effort will be in its prime from 2012 to 2022.

Really interesting; is true to St Henri style, even with all on offer from the vintage; for a fleeting moment it seemed it could be best yet under this label, but the finish said otherwise. Very, very good wine, but not great. Drink to 2019.
