Ranked #8 of 23 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra
90/100

Huon Hooke
Medium deep purple red: bright very good color. Fresh minty oak and red fruits, more weight and depth here, some grip and grunt. Chewy texture, solid wine, full-bodied and long with an emphatic finish.

Drink: 2011 to 2028
90 Points Robert Parker
The 2007 The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon has a very deep garnet-purple color and pronounced notes of black currant, blackberry, hung meat, pencil shavings and damp earth. Crisp and tight in the mouth, this medium-bodied wine has firm chewy tannins and high acidity though is just a little lacking in mid-palate fruit, finishing long. Approachable now, it should cellar to 2016.

95 Points James Halliday
A show-and-tell-tour of Yalumba’s fanatical vineyard monitoring and testing regime last week explained this wine’s ascension to the gods in 2007. A remarkable result for a tough drought year, it sings with fresh, focused red- and blackcurrants, cigar box and textural tannin finesse. Drink 2014 - 2025.
