Bill Wilksch. Medium red-purple; a fine mix of earth, cedar, vanilla and gentle red fruits on the bouquet leads on to a palate with surprisingly charry/earthy notes to go with blackberry and cedar flavours; persistent tannins on the finish. Retasted October 1997 and, if anything, seemed even younger, with powerful, penetrating fruit and those persistent tannins still very much in evidence. Drink to 2013.

Had some of this 19yr old wine and was a fresh as the day it was bottled just smoother. Better than the 2000+ stuff in my view but its all still good. Dark and inky with those strong Shiraz and Cabernet characteristics that Yalumba do so reliably. My Cheap Grange.. Drink in the next 1 to 10 years
